Helpful information about your insurance coverage

At Janz Dental, we follow the Alberta fee guide to ensure you receive dental care at a fair price. That said, your costs may vary based on your insurance provider and its payment schedule, which is updated annually to reflect changes in costs and coverage.

Dental fee schedules consider several factors and are determined through an in-depth analysis of procedure codes provided by the Alberta Dental Association & College. Factors determining the cost of dental care include:

  • Expenses involved in running a dental practice
  • Economic trends
  • Industry standards

What Do I Need to Process an Insurance Plan

It’s always best to be prepared. When you come for a dental visit of any kind, emergency-related or not, you should have certain information on hand to make the billing process as smooth as possible.

For direct billing, please provide:

  • Your insurance plan number and policy number.
  • A form of I.D. to verify your coverage.
  • Any informational booklets detailing your coverage.
  • Many insurance policies have a copay. To cover your portion of the copay, ensure you have another form of payment available such as cash, debit, or any major credit card.

Avoid Paying Out Of Pocket

To avoid paying out-of-pocket expenses — particularly if you believe you have 100% coverage — it’s important to review your insurance plan in advance.

At Janz Family Dental, we follow the Alberta fee guide and recommend that patients review their insurance plans to confirm they align with it, as well. This helps you plan ahead and enjoy a smooth, stress-free visit.

If you have any questions or concerns about your dental coverage, our team is happy to assist you.

Government Assistance for Dental Care

Dental care is an essential part of your overall health and shouldn’t be a financial burden. To aid in paying for dental care, the Alberta and Canadian governments offer funding and financial assistance to those in need.

The Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP) provides funding for mid- to low-income Canadians, including:

  • Seniors aged 65 and over
  • Children under the age of 18
  • Adults with a valid federal Disability Tax Credit certificate for 2023

For additional support, the Government of Alberta offers the Alberta Health Benefit for low-income Albertans.

For more information on assistance options to help cover your dental care costs, visit the Alberta Dental Foundation.

At Janz Family Dental, we accept multiple forms of payment, including cash, debit, and major credit cards, to cover any remaining balance.

For patients needing assistance, we encourage them to look into government programs such as the CDCP and Alberta Health Benefit for additional support.

Most dental insurance plans have an annual maximum benefit, typically ranging from $1,000 to $2,000. This is the maximum amount your insurer will cover within a 12-month period. For example, if your annual maximum is $1,000, your insurance will pay its portion of the bill up to that amount, and you will be responsible for any remaining balance.

Since this maximum resets each year, it’s important to schedule necessary treatments before your plan renews to make the most of your benefits.
